Making Magic with Carpets
A visit to our studio by the creative team at Carpetright back in April culminated in an interesting project. They were looking for a new supplier for some product and lifestyle shots for their website and social media and came to us on recommendation from another client.
With a print deadline looming, the brief was to shoot some large new carpet/flooring samples and comp them in to some pre-selected lifestyle images.
Steve Betts, Studio Manager, says “We often shoot and comp fashion images where a product style has changed and our retouchers often add or remove a product from a very expensive room set but it’s not often we get to create the images in this way.”
After some initial set building and painting, the floor coverings were positioned to mirror the shot they were to be comped into. Next we overlaid the lifestyle shots onto our screens and shot the relevant flooring at the exact perspective and scale, lighting it accordingly.”
Over in Retouching, Colour Director Mike Kerr took time to retouch the images to blend the two components together commenting “Distorting floors may seem easy but it really isn’t because of the weave and angle of the boards. Each image involved extensive retouching but the client got the result they wanted at a fraction of the cost of a stylised shoot.”
Carly Greening, Marketing Manager at Carpetright, says “With limited time available to us before we went to print, I wasn’t sure our request was even do-able but I was really impressed with the way the whole ec2i team handled the project. They have a great ‘can do’ approach and the whole shoot was completed within my timescales”.
