St George's Day Luncheon Club

Our very own Julia Elwick got to represent ec2i at the annual St George's Day Luncheon Club, held at The Landmark London hotel.  Organised for and on behalf of the printing, paper and publishing industries and now entering its 21st year, the luncheon celebrates everything that is English whilst also raising funds by way of silent and not-so-silent auctions for selected charities.  It's a rousing occasion with much singing, flag waving and frivolity, where the wine flows and very few guests depart in the refined manner in which they arrived!

Our London Landing!

After much searching for the right opportunity, we've landed in London and formed a partnership with photographic studio, 3Objectives (, just across the Thames in Kennington, a 2-minute walk from Oval underground station.  We've installed full proof viewing facilities in the studio and added our job management systems so we can provide an even faster service to those clients who need that immediate turn-around.  This modern building also has a cafe and meeting rooms on the same, ground floor so we can take briefs and present proofs should you not want to experience our superb seaside hospitality in Southend!

We're hosting a launch party (by invitation only) on Thursday, 28 April from 5pm till late.  Let us know if you'd like to be on the invite list!

Tiddlywinks for Sport Relief

Friday 18th March: ec2i's boardroom turned into a playroom when just about every member of staff took part in a Tiddlywinks tourament across the lunchtime slot to raise money for Sport Relief.  Organised by our general all-round everything guy, Steve Tate (fully qualified referee), teams of two attempted in true Tiddlywinks tradition to squidge their winks into the pot within a 3-minute time frame.  With just a tad of foul play and some very sly strategic moves, and cakes and other sustenance made and donated by staff, over £200 was raised with cries of "when can we do this again?".  Maybe in the summer...

Corporate Lunch at Swan, Shakespeare's Globe

The great and the good from the retail and catalogue worlds got together at London’s Swan restaurant and Globe theatre on March 3 for ec2i’s annual networking event.  The wine flowed, the actors sparkled with their bite-sized barbs of Shakespearean abuses and affronts and many a new friendship was cemented.  What was billed as a lunch continued well into the late evening… with many a sore head the next day!

But there was a serious side the all this frivolity.  We believe in the power of adjacency: what better way to promote ourselves to potential new clients than through existing ones?! So a special 'thank you' to all those clients who did just that on a sunny Spring day in London town.

How retailers use the cloud to catch up on rivals

Cloud commerce is changing how retailers do business. It allows smaller retailers to better compete with their larger peers without the cost, time and infrastructure challenges they previously faced in doing so.

InternetRetailing has teamed up with IBM to investigate how retailers can access enterprise capability easier than they ever have before – with their bottom line benefiting as a result.

If you want agility, speed to market and the flexibility to deal with whatever scalability you need – whether it’s to cope with international expansion or peak trading – then this whitepaper, which incorporates both a retailer survey and case study interviews with your peers – is a must read.
